Students thrive when they enroll in the educational opportunities that are the best fit for them. However, high school students who change schools in Tennessee can be forced to forfeit a year of their athletic playing time. That means they must sit out one-fourth of their eligible playing time, regardless of why they change schools.
Families should have the opportunity to choose the best educational opportunities for their children without being forced to sacrifice playing time. Under this proposed legislation, students can transfer schools once without being forced to sit out. It’s time for students and parents to choose the best school fit for them without being forced to give up playing time.
